Heidi Christ-Schmidt, MSE

Statistical Scientist

Heidi Christ-Schmidt, M.S.E., joined Statistics Collaborative, Inc. (StatCollab) in 1997. She is a member of the American Statistical Association, the International Biometric Society (Eastern North American Region), the Society for Clinical Trials (Member of the Finance Committee, 2002-2009), and the Association for Women in Mathematics.

Ms. Christ-Schmidt is an experienced statistician and programmer who has developed systems for real-time auditing of randomization schemes and drug resupply, written statistical sections for numerous protocols, clinical study reports, and journal articles, and managed final analyses from clinical trials for phenylketonuria, chronic kidney disease, hyperkalemia, and type 1 diabetes.

Since 1999, Ms. Christ-Schmidt has supported Data Monitoring Committees (DMCs) as the independent reporting statistician, including drafting DMC charters and presenting interim monitoring reports. She has experience programming and providing statistical support for trials studying the safety and efficacy of drugs, vaccines, and devices for a wide variety of medical conditions, including cardiovascular disease, cancer, orphan diseases, asthma, sepsis, anemia, chronic kidney disease, diabetes, hepatitis C, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), HIV, and epilepsy. These have ranged from very small, early stage trials to large, multinational Phase 3 studies. She also participated in a meta-analysis of case-control and randomized studies exploring the efficacy of pneumococcal vaccines and an epidemiological study of survival in AIDS patients.

At StatCollab, Ms. Christ-Schmidt supervises other project team staff members, including research assistants, programmers, and biostatisticians. She has also coordinated in-house seminars and developed company-wide general use SAS macros for graphical and tabular presentations.

She received her A.B. cum laude in Mathematics and German Literature from Bryn Mawr College (1991) and her M.S.E., with an emphasis in Probability and Statistics, from the Department of Mathematical Sciences at The Johns Hopkins University (1997).
