Kelly Smith, M.S., originally joined Statistics Collaborative, Inc. (SCI) in 2006; she left in 2014 and rejoined in 2020. She is a member of the Society for Clinical Trials.
Ms. Smith joined SCI as a Research Associate, providing support to project teams for Phase 2 and 3 clinical trials in a range of disease areas. She assisted project managers in preparing safety monitoring reports for Data Monitoring Committees (DMCs), creating randomization lists, and liaising with DMC members and industry sponsors. As she gained experience, Ms. Smith took on a larger coordination role on her projects, and began supervising Research Assistants and Associates, providing them with mentorship, training, and opportunities for professional growth. In parallel, Ms. Smith learned SAS programming and began to pursue her graduate degree in Biostatistics.
As a Biostatistician, Ms. Smith provides statistical support and coordination for projects. In addition to programming and validation, she assists in the development of statistical analysis plans, and coordinates DMCs for large, multinational Phase 2 and 3 clinical trials, including authorship of safety monitoring reports.
Ms. Smith received her B.A. with high distinction in Psychology, with a minor in Biology, from the University of Virginia (2003) and her M.S. with distinction in Biostatistics from The George Washington University (2013).
