Laura Burke, M.P.H., joined Statistics Collaborative, Inc. (SCI) in 2015. She is a member of the American Statistical Association and the Society for Clinical Trials.
At SCI, Ms. Burke has provided statistical support for clinical trials evaluating treatments in areas such as oncology, Alzheimer’s disease, muscular dystrophy, eye diseases, depression, multiple sclerosis, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. Since 2017, Ms. Burke has supported Data Monitoring Committees (DMCs) as the independent reporting statistician, including drafting DMC charters, managing teams of programmers, programming and validating datasets and statistical analyses, and writing and presenting interim monitoring reports. Ms. Burke also leads SAS program training for junior staff members.
Prior to joining SCI, Ms. Burke worked as a Research Associate/Data Manager at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences performing analyses for health economics research, and as a Cancer Research Training Award Fellow at the National Cancer Institute performing analyses for genetic epidemiology research.
She received her B.A. in Quantitative Economics from Tufts University (2003) and her M.P.H. in Epidemiology from the George Washington University (2011). Her culminating experience research project for her M.P.H. was titled “Ability of Prognostic Factors to Predict Conditional Disease-Specific Survival of Breast Cancer Patients Several Years after Diagnosis”.
